Wishful Thinking v.2

I'm literally freaking out. It is my last week of classes in my undergrad. MY LAST WEEK. When did this even happen? I have four days of classes left to make some serious magic and finish the semester (and my entire undergrad...) strong.

So what am I wishing for this week?

1. PATIENCE! Goodness gracious, I sure do need it this week. Especially when working with design. Sometimes you work hours on something and no matter what you do, it just doesn't look right. I have a lot of designs and a lot of drafts to get through without pulling my hair out.

2. Grace! My omega presentation is on Thursday, and I have to present my REAL business to a lot of people. A lot of people will make business plans for pretend businesses... but I have a lot more on the line. This is a real business, with real customers, and the criticisms will be extra real and hurt way worse.

Honestly, I don't think I have room to wish for anything extra this week. If I have enough patience and grace to make it through these next four days, I will be absolutely golden.

PS: those of you in college... yeah I had to do exit loan counseling the other day where they essentially tell you how much you owe and your options on how to pay it back. STUDENT LOANS ARE REAL, AND YOU HAVE TO PAY FOR THEM EVENTUALLY... unless you die.

Design Diaries v.3

The redesign is complete! I am officially running on no sleep. I accidentally got way too caught up in this project and forgot about all of my other immediate responsibilities. (Oops!) I'm so excited about the simplified color palette and new design. Here's the final mockup I was working off of:

I had so much fun doing this, and am definitely interested in doing more blog redesigns. If you'd like me to redesign your blog for you, shoot me an email! I'm in the early stages of freelance designing and would love to speak to interested bloggers about redoing your blog for an introductory rate!

Music On My Mind v.2

So, to keep me from listening to the same music over and over, I decided to make a new playlist each month. That way I can throw the songs I'm currently obsessed with on there and listen over and over again. As always, I'm using the fabulous Spotify Premium service for my playlists. You can try a month of Premium for free by following that link, and if you're a student... it's only $4.99 a month after that!

Not all of these are necessarily recent... but they popped up in my Spotify Discover feature, and I've been really loving Sick of Sarah!

PS... did y'all get a sneak peek at the Boston Calling lineup for September? LORDE! I want to die! I had a presale offer where I could have gotten a 3-day pass for only $100. Next time I get an offer like that, I'm definitely going to trust the Boston Calling gods.

Design Diaries v.2

Hey everybody! My omega presentation is one week from today and of course, I decided to completely switch up everything I had already planned (yay?). My original plan was to create a website for myself (I already created two that I was deciding between...) but neither of them were what I wanted, and they all linked back to my blog.

So I decided... I'm a blogger, I'm proud of my blog, and all my work is already showcased here. Why not redesign my blog to work as a cohesive website design? It's the best of both worlds, as far as I'm concerned. So I do really apologize if you view the blog over the next few days and it seems a bit wonky. I promise it'll look great by the end of the week.

PS! I finally finished hosting myself on my very own domain. Welcome to www.dontpanicdeanna.com!

Etsy Finds v.2

I had such a great week at home in Boston, and I can't wait to share some stories and some pictures with y'all! Until then, I wanted to share some cute Etsy finds.

Etsy finds are actually my favorite. Mostly because I actually get to set aside time in my day to browse Etsy and I'm being productive at the same time!

Vintage Enamel Tea Kettle via FireLake

Dodecahedron Garland via submicrocosm

Vintage Brass Elephant Bookends via saltandginger

Ikat Pencil Case via oKidz

That's about all I have for today. Do you have an Etsy shop? What are some of your favorite shops or items? Share in the comments, I'd love to see! If you haven't already, check out my Etsy shop!

Twenty-Two

Last year I absolutely swore that I would never age a year older than 21. But, alas, here we are. The 11th of April in the year 2014. And I'm terrified to say that I made it to 22.

This past year, I've had a great job, finished my senior year of undergrad, traveled up and down the east coast, seen a bunch of concerts, met a ton of people, and had a pretty decent year. 22 + graduation means a little bit of growing up. But as far as I'm concerned - there is always room for fun and to enjoy life. I'll find some room, somewhere.

Also... I'm so, so sorry. I really don't want to do this. But a deep, dark part of me has been waiting for this moment so it's acceptable. It's my birthday so I can do anything.

Shipping Up To Boston

Today I'm headed home! It's my birthday weekend, I have some job interviews, and then I have Easter break - so I was able to get the time off of school. Any free time I have while I'm home will be spent working on my omega presentation - which is due less than 2 weeks after I get back to school!

I'm also hoping to do a couple of projects around my apartment... but those will be on the serious back burner because I'm potentially getting my own place when I get home! Everything is still very much in the early stages, but I'm excited to see where it goes.

Honestly, I really need this quick getaway even if it's only a week and half. The end of the semester and the realness of graduation day is crushing down on me. The break will absolutely do me some good! Now... let's just hope I remembered to download a movie to watch during my flight, hmmm...

Birthday Wishlist // Year 21+1

So last year I made this really complex birthday wishlist and I actually got a lot of what I wanted, which is great! This year, I'm trying to think of what to put on my wishlist... and I honestly don't know. I don't feel like I need anything extra this year to make me happy. So take this post with a grain of salt. And if you see a Mercedes or something in this post, please accept my jokes.

The Gift of Maven: So I tried out a Julep subscription one month and accidentally got hooked. The colors are so fun and the nail polish is amazing quality because of their 4-free formula. I love it - but it isn't really in my beauty budget right now... and I am kind of way too stocked on nail polish to justify buying it for myself. If you want to try out Maven for yourself (your first box is free - just pay shipping!) check it out here!

Spotify Premium: Y'all should have seen this coming. If you have followed this blog even for just a day you'll know that I'm addicted to Spotify. You can gift premium in 1, 3, 6, or 12 month increments. If you are refusing for whatever awful reason you have, GO TRY SPOTIFY PREMIUM. You get one month free and if you don't like it - cancel it. But I swear you won't.

How cute? These dresses [left] & [right] are adorable. I'm thinking of picking one of them up for graduation. Which is now in one month and one day, thank you very much.

And finally, how about buying a gift for yourself? The summer capsule collection over at chloe + isabel just launched, and the colors are so beautiful. A lot of these pieces are limited edition, and bound to sell out. Check it out here!

Design Diaries v.1

This isn't long - just a thought I've had floating around in my head all day. I'm itching for a re-design around here. I'm not feeling my colors or my header anymore. It'll be a fun little side project for me to work on while I'm home.

And honestly? I know that if I post saying I'm headed for a redesign - I'll be much more inclined to complete it in a timely manner.

Putting an end to procrastination. Well... soon.

Wishful Thinking v.1

Monday morning marks a brand new week and a new opportunity for great things to happen! I have kind of a busy week coming up, so here are a few things I'm wishing for.

1. Safe travels! I'll be flying home this week (yay!) and I'm am wishing that everything goes according to plan and I have no issues getting there. A few weeks ago I got a flat tire on the way to the airport (yuck) so I'm kind of weary even though I got new tires.

2. Warm weather?! This one is probably a longshot because I'm in the mountains now and it's raining... and on Wednesday I head north, so it'll probably be cold. But I don't think asking for some warm weather on my birthday week is too much.

3. Oh, right! My birthday! It's Friday... I'll be turning 21, again, thank you very much. And anyone that decides to argue otherwise can feel free to step right up and speak with me :) So I hope that is lovely, though I think it will be.

Etsy Finds v.1

It's finally Friday! Just because I'm off the hook for classes doesn't mean I'm free unfortunately. I have some shifts at work this weekend, plus a bunch of work for my omega. Wow, aren't you sick of hearing that yet? Well only 4 more weeks and I promise I'll never mention it again... (only when I really need to!)

As an Etsy shop owner, I spend a good amount of time on there browsing through what other people are selling. Most of it ends up in my favorites list where it rots and is forgotten until my girlfriend needs to buy me some sort of gift. So I figured I'd share some of my favorite items with y'all, and maybe they'll end up in your favorites list, too. All items are linked back to their original shop underneath the picture.

If your item is listed here and for whatever reason you'd like it removed, feel free to email me and I will happily take it down.

That's about all I have for today. Do you have an Etsy shop? What are some of your favorite shops or items? Share in the comments, I'd love to see! If you haven't already, check out my Etsy shop!

Bands to Watch v.3 // The Colourist

I had the pleasure of checking out the Colourist in February when they opened for Panic! At The Disco in Atlanta. Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances, we only got to see 2 Panic! songs... but we did manage to catch the Colourist's full set!

American rock band the Colourist formed in 2009 in Orange County, CA. In 2009, they won three awards at the O.C. Music Awards including Best New Artist, Best Song and Best Live Band while promoting their debut single "Little Games."

Just recently on March 25th, they released their first full-length studio album, The Colourist. The debut came right in the middle of their first US headlining tour with Night Terrors of 1927 and The Wind and The Wave.

Wanna check them out? Try Little Games (which I so kindly posted way up above for you!), We Won't Go Home, or Fix This.

April Goals

Happy April everybody! I'm in the home stretch for graduation, just 5 weeks away... So of course, a lot of my monthly goals are going to relate to the last bit of work I have to accomplish. I haven't made a concrete list of goals in a long while; so I'm hoping that posting them for the world to see will motivate me to see most of them through.

1. Finish my omega project. I admit, taking on an entire marketing and rebranding assignment was a little bold of me... but taking off more than I can reasonably handle is in my blood. I love a good challenge and get a lot of satisfaction out of finishing a giant assignment that people were doubting my ability to complete.

2. Save some money. After graduation I'm going to be relocating back home to Massachusetts and be between jobs for a little bit. I have two job interviews when I go home (!!!) but it'll still be wise of me to put a little bit of money away if I can. I'm not a big spender as it is, so it'll be hard - but definitely doable if I sell some extra prints and pick up an extra shift or two.

3. Stick to my blogging schedule. I've planned out the majority of my blog posts this month, and I'm hoping that will let me stick to it a little easier. This way I can schedule posts a few days in advance on those days when I'm just lounging around eating bonbons.

4. Find two blogs to sponsor next month. I'm going to invest a little bit of money into sponsoring other blogs. Mostly blogs I enjoy reading who are just getting started with sponsorship - but also blogs with a similar readership who might enjoy my posts as well!

This month I'm sponsoring Straight Up Z, formerly Sometimes Z Takes Pictures. If you saw my face in her sidebar and popped over here, then hello! Z is one of my readers and was always commenting on my posts. We both have a soft spot for Boston and Pop Punk - so there's really no one I'd rather be sponsoring this month. If you are here on your own terms and have no idea who Z is, I suggest you hop over and check her out. She's pretty rad!
